Upgrade/Patch

Last year I delivered a Delphi Ap on CD with InstallShield installation to
my customer. Now Delphi 2007 comes with InstallAware and InstallAware says
their tools cannot upgrade/patch an application installed with
InstallShield.

1. I would like to patch/upgrade users who have already installed prev
version of my ap with InstallShield. (Need to replace main exe and would
like not to send an update package with all of the other subfolders and
files which are the same).

2. I would like to create another CD with the updated main exe for new
users who never installed the application.

Seems my new InstallAware cannot do this. Do I need to abandon my
InstallAware and purchase InstallShield?

Anyone hear of MSI Patch Builder? Does it work? Any other ideas?

Try a program called Advanced Installer (download the demo first to try
it out):

1. It supports making patches (*.msp MS installer patch files). It's
easy enough to use, and even supports the Windows Vista UAC installation
for non-admin users (installing patches will not show them the elevation
prompt, so they can install it themselves without being admins).

2. To create a new CD simply make a new project in Advanced Installer.
There is also a "repackage" option, which imports other installers (such
as from InstallShield), and creates a new installation from it.
